Children in schools and colleges today are being pressurized to uptake and process volumes of knowledge because of the abundance of information that is available in the modern textbooks and found on the internet. Only a few schools believe it is important to add experience to the youngster in the student. Every student is made to apply the basic rules of science and technology in their laboratories, while only a few get to experience the wonders of nature from up close and personal, or, if only in their imagination, a slice of their country’s history and cultural evolution.  Only a fraction of the numerous teenagers feel that a visit to an ages-old art museum, bungalow, church, forest, fort, garden, hot spring, library, mosque, palace, temple, tomb or wildlife reserve is ‘cool’, because their education simply has excluded the concept of understanding roots, culture and country through nature and history.

Students need to get a better picture of factories, industries and plants if they are to understand better, the total energy and environmental costs involved in the production of various consumer goods that they depend on for their daily needs. They need to see and understand how industries are a source for pollution and what they do in order to keep the natural surroundings clean. They also need to understand the human effort that goes into the production cycle and how various companies provide for worker welfare through uniforms, helmets, gloves, masks, boots and other safety measures.

    Adventure tours: Adventure tours are arranged so that students can learn how to put teamwork in action and draw entertainment from activities like trekking, cycling, swimming, mountaineering, gliding, surfing, kayaking and skiing. There are many spots in the country that offer students interesting outdoor locales for such activities. These activities have become conspicuous by their absence in today’s lifestyles. The pristine natural environment needs to be lived in for a few days of the year at least to allow the body a reprieve from stress and pollution that have come to stay in almost every urban area of the country. Acclimatization (and not advertisement) is the key to improving the domestic tourism in our country.
